Why South Bay Coin

A Private, Unhurried Place to Sell a Wedding Ring in Los Angeles

People sell wedding rings for reasons they should never have to explain at a counter. A divorce is final, a spouse has passed, or a drawer simply holds a ring that no longer belongs on a hand. South Bay Coin has served Los Angeles from the same Lawndale showroom since 1980, and this sale, more than any other, deserves privacy, patience, and a number you can verify. We are a licensed, bonded, and insured California dealer with a 5.0 star Google rating across 400+ reviews, and nobody here will ask why you are selling.

Most jewelry carries a second question past the metal: who made it, what the stone is worth, whether the style will resell. A plain wedding band carries no second question. Its price rests on three facts you can check for yourself, the purity confirmed by a test run in front of you, the weight read off a scale you are watching, and the gold market on the day you walk in. You do not have to take anyone's word for what your band is worth, and at this moment, that matters.

The visit itself is simple. Walk in any business day, no appointment, and one buyer handles your rings from start to finish at a counter serving Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, and every corner of Los Angeles County. We buy gold jewelry of every kind, but bands are the pieces we see most, in yellow, white, and rose gold, from slim vintage rings to heavy men's bands, engraved or plain, polished or worn thin by decades.

Sell one ring or the whole set. Sell today or come back in a year. The gold does not expire, and the decision stays yours.

How Pricing Works

How a Wedding Ring Is Priced

A wedding band is priced from what it is made of. The karat stamp inside records what the maker claimed, our testing equipment confirms what is actually there, and the scale settles how much of it exists. Purity times weight against the live gold market, and the offer explains itself. A wide comfort fit band simply holds more gold than a slim one, so two rings of the same karat can carry very different numbers, and both of them are correct.

A full set is usually two or three rings that were bought together and are remembered as one object, and they still get priced one at a time. The band answers to the gold market. An engagement ring, when it carries a meaningful diamond, answers mostly to the stone market, and those are two different questions with two different answers.

So here is the plain version of what we do: we buy the gold. If most of your ring's value sits in its stone, we will say exactly that to your face, price the metal honestly, and never fold everything into one blended figure you cannot take apart. Small accent diamonds on a band rarely change the arithmetic. A large diamond changes it entirely, which is why diamond led and signed pieces belong with our luxury jewelry buyers, while this counter pays you for the metal the moment you decide.

Not every band is gold, either. Platinum bands are common, white gold looks like platinum, and we test which metal you actually hold before pricing it against the right market. If yours turns out to be platinum, our platinum buying page explains that side of the counter.

The Part Nobody Prints

What Selling Asks of You, and What It Does Not

You will not be asked why you are selling. The transaction needs the ring and a valid photo ID, which California requires of every precious metals buyer, and nothing else. Not the story, not the date, not a brave face. Plenty of sellers say two sentences the whole visit, and that is a perfectly good visit.

The engraving inside a band changes nothing about the offer. Initials and a date do not add or subtract a single grain of gold, so a personal inscription costs you nothing, and you do not have to look at it again after the ring crosses the counter.

For many sellers, where the ring goes matters as much as the number. A plain band priced as gold goes to our in-house refinery and returns to metal. It is not polished up and set out in a display case where you might walk past it, and it is not shipped across the country to be bid on by strangers. It ends quietly, which for a lot of people is the point.

And there is no deadline. Some people sell the week the papers are signed. Some keep a ring for ten years and sell it the afternoon they finally stop noticing it in the drawer. Gold holds its nature either way, and whenever you decide, the counter works the same: tested, weighed, priced, and paid in one visit.

What We Buy

Wedding Rings We Buy for Cash

Every form a wedding ring takes is welcome here, from a lone band worn for fifty years to a complete his and hers set, in any metal and any condition.

Gold Wedding Bands

Yellow, white, and rose gold bands in every karat from 10K to 24K. Plain, engraved, milgrain, or two-tone. Polished, scratched, bent, resized, or cut off. All bought.

Platinum Bands

Platinum wedding bands, priced against the platinum market once testing confirms the metal. White gold that only looks like platinum is priced correctly too, and we tell you which is which.

Engagement and Anniversary Rings

Priced plainly for their gold. Small accent stones ride along. If the diamond is the real value, we say so out loud and route the piece the honest way.

Full Sets and Estate Bands

His and hers sets, wrap and guard rings, and bands from a late parent's or spouse's estate. Each ring priced on its own, all of them in one visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Selling Wedding Rings

Where can I sell wedding rings in Los Angeles?

You can sell wedding rings to South Bay Coin at 16916 Hawthorne Blvd in Lawndale, serving all of Los Angeles County. Walk in Monday through Friday 10 AM to 5 PM or Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM, no appointment needed. Every ring is tested, weighed, and priced in front of you, and payment is immediate.

How much can I sell my wedding ring for?

A gold band's value comes from three checkable facts: its purity, its weight, and the gold market on the day you sell. A wide 18K men's band is worth far more than a slim 10K ring, so no honest buyer quotes a figure sight unseen. We test and weigh in front of you, then state one clear offer.

Do you buy plain gold wedding bands without a diamond?

Yes, and gladly. Plain bands are the heart of this page. A band with no stone has nothing to argue about: purity, weight, and the market settle the price, and you watch all three being read. Men's and women's bands, any karat, any condition, engraved or not, are bought every day.

Do you buy diamond engagement rings too?

Here is the plain answer: we buy the gold. Small accent stones do not change much, and the band and setting are priced honestly as metal. When a large diamond is most of the ring's value, we say so directly and bring in our luxury jewelry side to evaluate the stone properly.

Should I sell my wedding ring after a divorce?

That decision belongs entirely to you, and there is no deadline on it. You can sell a wedding ring the month the marriage ends or years later, and the arithmetic pays the same either way. When you are ready, the visit itself is easy: private, unhurried, and finished in about fifteen minutes.

Can I sell my ring before the divorce is final?

Please confirm the ring is yours alone to sell first. Rings are often personal property, but a pending divorce can treat them differently, and we are buyers, not attorneys, so ask yours if anything is unsettled. California law requires photo ID for every purchase, which protects both sides of the counter.

Does the engraving inside my wedding band lower its value?

No. An inscription does not remove any gold, so an engraved band and a blank one of the same purity and weight receive the same offer. Bands we buy for their metal are refined, so the words do not follow the ring anywhere. You are never penalized for a personal history.

Can I sell a wedding band that was resized or cut off?

Yes. A wedding band cut off in an emergency room, bent in an accident, or resized years ago is bought without hesitation. The offer simply follows the metal that exists today, tested and weighed as it is. Condition matters to a reseller, and we are not reselling your band, we are refining it.

Can I sell a late spouse's or a parent's wedding rings?

Yes, and you will be met gently. Rings from an estate are priced exactly like any others, each on its own, with the testing done in front of you. Bring your photo ID. If you are not ready to part with every piece, sell some and keep the rest.

Do I need an appointment or the original receipt to sell?

No appointment and no paperwork. The gold does not care whether the receipt survived, because purity and weight are read from the ring itself at the counter. Walk in during business hours with photo ID. If a diamond has a grading report, bring it, since that helps the stone conversation.
